Queensland Floods – Practical Ways That You Can Help
Financial donations:
Via the Premiers Flood Appeal – 1800 219 028 – or donate in person at any Queensland branch of the National Australia Bank, Commonwealth, ANZ, Westpac, Suncorp or Bank of Queensland.
Alternatively, check www.qld.gov.au/floods for details on how to donate.
Volunteers:
Gold Coast residents wanting to volunteer their services to flood ravaged Queenslanders should go on to thewww.volunteeringqld.org.au website and register their names.
Tradespeople:
Gold Coast tradespeople can register their services at www.qbuild.qld.gov.au – go to the suppliers/contractors section.
Animals:
The RSPCA will update its website – www.rspca.qld.org.au – with a list of ways people can assist that organisation.
Hamper donations:
a) The Gold Coast ‘hamper drive’ has hit the 600 mark – with organisers still accepting new goods (no clothes, bedding, furniture or appliances please) at Council’s Evandale Chamber building (135 Bundall Road, Bundall) from 9am weekdays – business hours only. Not weekends.
Non perishable food, cleaning products, tea towels etc. NO CLOTHING or brooms or mops as items must fit into a laundry basket.
b) In addition, a private trucking operator is doing a delivery of goods to flood victims.
At this stage:
Truck #1 will be leaving the Coast on Monday 17.01.11.
Truck #2 will be leaving the coast on 19.01.11.
Drop off address for goods is: Unit 6 / 91-93 SPENCER RD, NERANG QLD. Goods required include toiletries, non-perishable food, clothes, toys, mattresses, sleeping bags etc … not major furniture at this stage – just essentials to get them through.
